PRAYER+1

The PRAYER+1 Initiative is designed to give individual Christians and local churches a simple, meaningful, relational way of participating in God’s mission to declare the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ to the peoples of the earth. Simply commit to regularly praying for Bonfire Ministries and choosing one of the following options of financial support.

Option 1: Cover the individual expenses for one Bonfire trip annually. The average cost to the director for a Bonfire missionary trip is $1,800 for a 2-week trip, with ministry expenses included.

Option 2: Go or send a person, family, or group from your church on a Bonfire trip. A pastor or others can go on a trip, participate in the work, make connections, and then upon their return, help excite the local church towards greater missions involvement. The church might even decide to make a long-term commitment to a particular region, and return annually on a short-term trip. Bonfire Ministries can help with the strategic planning, discipleship, and logistics necessary to start a long-term partnership that effectively uses short-term mission trips.

Option 3: Become a regular, long-term, financial support partner for a local indigenous church, pastor/missionary, or need. This is as easy as sending $150+/month to support the daily needs of a pastor or missionary so they can focus on preaching the gospel and making disciples, or providing means to help a local church with their biblical ministries, or providing school supplies and food to impoverished school children.

Option 4: Join the support list for trip-specific ministry needs. Each trip we take, we ask the international partners to list their most pressing, simple financial needs (not a new building or significant project). And then we try to find supporters to cover those needs. The needs are various, but recent requests have included repairs for a vehicle ($500), a hot water tank and oven for a men’s recovery ministry ($250 each), a church building painting project ($300), an indigenous pastor’s “mini-conference” ($300), lawyer fees to help falsely imprisoned Christians ($500), school supplies for children of enslaved brick makers ($750), and a bible college maintenance project ($2000). There are plenty of other ministry costs associated with any given trip, and we also usually take along school supplies and clothes for outreach programs and bring money for food in impoverished areas, but having partners willing to finance a particular need is quite meaningful and effective.

Every PRAYER+1 partner has a meaningful impact on Christian brothers and sisters around the world, and the churches God has placed in difficult places.
