Generally speaking, we will work in any region in any country that allows for the possibility of thriving partnerships between churches in the United States and groups of indigenous churches around the world. We work in Central and South America, Africa, and West, Central, and East Asia. We identify potential regions and partners through four criteria.
First, we look for regions where the church has some level of established presence. We are not missionaries looking for the frontlines of gospel proclamation to completely unengaged and unreached peoples. Rather, our mission is to support the newly planted, fledging, and undeveloped, indigenous churches so that they can grow, mature, and thrive. Furthermore, we specifically look for under-resourced churches and groups of Christian workers that lack vibrant partnerships.
Second, we look for groups of churches and Christian workers in those regions with a desire for basic biblical fidelity and a heart for the Great Commission. These churches and workers, especially indigenous, can carry the gospel into unreached places, where the gospel is yet unknown and Christ the Lord is not named.
Third, we look for places with logistics structures in place that are conducive to regular visits from partner churches and workers. We require that the main location for the work a maximum of 2 two-hour points of connection from a main international airport in the country. For example, in Peru, we currently fly into Lima, then fly a 1-hour flight to Tarapoto, and then drive 1-2 hours to a central lodging point. Certain planned outreaches have extended further (for example, several hours by boat), but the partnerships first developed with our defined logistics structure.
Finally, we look for groups of churches and Christian workers that will work well with partners and grow in maturity and ministry capacity as a direct result of the partnership. This criteria is often determined during the first vision trip to a region where established contacts show a fit with the first three criteria.
